Retretti Art Center, Punkaharju, Finland, 2000.

Collaboration with Julia Virkkunen and Nathalie Lahdenmaki for the Arabia Porcelain Factory commemorative exhibition, Finland. Work was made and fired in the tunnel kiln at the Arabia Factory in Helsinki.

Sheets of fiber were dipped in bone china slip to create the forms, hung in panels with stainless steel wire. The work was based on using numbers from the Fibonacci series. The title refers to using the first plan we designed.

During installation, it was discovered that movement of the grid from which it hung evoked the sound of the wind through the wheat fields. The audience was able to interact with the work by tugging on a rope at one end (not shown).

Premier Plan was installed in one of the long, narrow, underground caves at the Art Center, so the entire length of the piece could not be photographed all at once. This image shows a little more than half the sculpture.
